Blanca Nieves Isabel Peralta, Baby, was born in Centenario, province of Neuquen, Argentina, on 10 July 1937.
She completed her primary and secondary studies at the Colegio de Belen, in the city of Santiago del Estero, where she earned the title of National Teacher. She taught as a grade teacher at School No. 2 Juan Bautista Alberdi, Las Lomas, Pellegrini department; Juanillo, Atamisqui department; Tacoyo, San Martin department; La Soledad, Rio Hondo department.
In 1983 she was Municipal Commissioner of Villa Rio Hondo for three terms. In that role she secured the building for the Villa Rio Hondo school, the Nuestra Senora del Pilar secondary school and the kindergarten.
She also secured the borehole and Well 2 tank of Villa Rio Hondo, as well as running water for the towns of Guico, Platillo, Pozo Huascho, La Soledad, Pozo de la Orilla, Acos and Arbolito.
Her cultural and community contribution
She founded the Villa Rio Hondo Historical Museum "Barco I y III Juan Nunez del Prado". She also founded the chapel of La Soledad, Rio Hondo department, and authored the project "Shelter of the Parish of Termas de Rio Hondo" together with the Order of the Virgin of La Salette and Father Rolando Nadeu.
She promoted an education project at primary, secondary, tertiary and university level, with scholarships for students of the Rio Hondo department. Her ultimate vision was a university to train professionals in different fields.
She was president of the Villa Rio Hondo Cooperative, where work was carried out in agriculture, livestock, beekeeping and a tannery workshop.
She worked actively with cultural institutions of Villa Rio Hondo: the Mariano Moreno Library, the Chapel of the Virgin of the Valley, its patron San Francisco Solano, the Folk Dance Academy and the Sports and Social Club.
Writer, poet and community reference
As a writer and poet, she was a member of the Argentine Society of Writers SADE and SALAC, representing her province at national and international cultural events.
Baby Peralta left a legacy for the community of Villa Rio Hondo: writings, works, notebooks and plans for the future of a place she embraced with affection.

Baby, our mother to all of us, was laid to rest on 17 February 2017. This is how we will complete her most treasured work for the whole community, which she embraced with so much love and perseverance.
